The Longview High School (LHS) Lobo band has won a first division rating from the entire judging panel to secure its 64th consecutive “superior” score in University Interscholastic League contest rating competition. This extends the “Big Green Marching Machine’s” record for consecutive superior ratings in regional competition.

For more than 80 years the LHS band has traditionally followed a military precision-type style that sets it conspicuously apart from most marching bands. This year’s roster is made up of about 200 members under the supervision of director Louis Robinett and assistant directors David Landry and Grant Woodson.

As well as assorted group events the band participates at UIL Solo level and in Ensemble Contests. It also auditions for the Texas Music Educators Region, Area and State bands.

Director Robinett know that hard work pays. He said, “It validates the hard work that the staff and students have put in. Making a one is the standard, but putting the best quality product on the field is what we always strive for.”
